Spurley seemed in total control in the first half of this fixture against Moston Brook and following strikes from Matt Neale and Sam Findlow went into the break a deserved 2 nil up. Early in the second half Spurley found themselves further ahead when sub Charlie Carroll fired in the third.
All was going well until twenty minutes from time when the wheels suddenly came off and despite a penalty save from Cameron Gresty they conceded 2 goals in the space of eight minutes. All of a sudden the pressure was all from Moston Brook. With 5 minutes to go Spurley still held a slender 3-2 lead but were under increasing pressure and it seemed they just couldn't retain the ball. Finally the pressure told and Moston Brook grabbed two late goals - the winner coming just before the final whistle. A game Spurley could ... and should have won.
